Why are the fees for sight tests levied at the point Eyecare plans are requested?

This is standard practice within the corporate eyecare market that specialises in the provision of off site optical services because the sight test is instantly redeemable by the Network Opticians.

Because eyecare plans are produced individually for each User that makes a request for a sight test, the risk of abuse is drastically reduced. However, because this entails each eyecare plan being bespoke, they cannot be re-used by someone different.

Additionally it should be noted that at the point that the User makes a request for an eyecare plan, they are making an undertaking to have a sight test.

Most corporate eyecare systems necessitate a pro forma invoice. Payment must therefore be received before vouchers are issued. However, the supplier provides credit facilities. eyecare plans are dispatched directly to each User upon individual request, and only charged as individual requests are made, either individually or on an accumulation invoice.

  • Sight Tests: By raising the invoice at the time a request is made, the supplier can be sure that the money has been paid by the Client in time to pay the optician fees on behalf of the Client.
  • Spectacles: Because the User may take up to 90 days to request vocational spectacles, and because the supplier arranges the spectacle manufacture, the invoice is not raised until vocational spectacles are ordered.
  • Summary: Monthly invoices identify all requested sight tests, and ordered vocational spectacles.
