What is Candida

Candida albicans is a common type of yeast (fungus) that lives in the body. It can start to cause trouble when it grows and can go out of control.

Generally healthy bacteria help to keep Candida under control but they maybe destroyed due to a poor diet or antibiotics. This leads to excessive yeast in the body as it spreads rapidly.

Yeast overgrowth can compromise your immune system and has been thought to contribute to Irritable Bowel Syndrome, leaky gut syndrome, chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia. It is therefore very important to rid your body of the yeast and restore a healthy balance.

Oregano (Oreganum vulgare)

Studies have shown that oregano may by an effective anti-Candida agent. It is a strong antifungal which can be effective in combating yeast problems.

Oregano contains two naturally occurring antimicrobial agents named Carvacrol and Thymol. The chemicals react with the water in your blood and can dehydrate germs and fungi and do not affect the helpful bacteria.

Olive Leaves (Olea europaea)

Olive leaf extract has strong anti-microbial properties that can help to control Candida albicans overgrowth.

Oleuropein is the active part in the olive leaves, enzymes in the body convert oleuropein to elolenic acid. This enhances immunity so the body can destroy viruses, pathogenic bacteria and fungi.

Pot marigold (Calendula officinalis)

Native to the Mediterranean region it can be used as an antifungal agent to treat Candida as well as athlete’s foot and ringworm.

Thymus vulgaris (thyme)

Thyme reinforces the immune system to combat against different types of contagions caused by bacteria, virus and fungus. The herb maybe effective in dealing with infections in Candida as like Oregano contains carvacrol.

Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)

A dried fruit from a tall herbaceous plant it is cultivated commercially in India, Sri Lanka, Guatemala and Tanzania.
Studies have shown that cardamom had inhibitory activity on Candida albicans. Antimicrobial characteristics of the herbs are due to various chemical compounds that are present in Cardamom.

Cloves (Eugenia caryophyllus)

Studies have shown that clove oil have a considerable antifungal activity against fungi especially on its compounds eugenol.
Some studies noted that for some strains of Candida albicans, the yeast inhibition was nearly 100%.

Garlic (Allium sativum 5% alliin)

Garlic should be part of any Candida treatment due to its antifungal properties.

Cinnamon Oil (Cinnamomum zeyl oil)

Fennel Oil (Foeniculum vulgare oil)
